Church Planting
In 2003, Mark Buckley, the Senior Pastor of Living Streams Church in Phoenix, AZ, envisioned planting churches in the valley and asked me, his Administrative Pastor, to be the first. After a month of prayer, Judy and I agreed to Mark's request.
We gathered 45 people, and on October 3rd, 2004, we held our first service in the cafeteria of Westview High School in Avondale, AZ. Later, we held services in the 800-seat Amphitheater at Westview High and then in a local movie theater.
In 2010, a five-acre church property became available, but the housing market crash hit our congregation hard. Half of our members lost their homes. Despite banks not giving loans to churches, we secured a loan from a private trust offering interest-only payments for up to 10 years. We held our first service in the new building on December 5th, 2010. The congregation grew, and we eventually held two services on Sundays with over 500 people in attendance. We made significant upgrades to the property, including building a 6,000 sq ft daycare/children's center in 2020.
My surgeon advised me to retire due to health challenges, and we transitioned our church to a wonderful couple in 2022. I had a miraculously successful surgery in June 2023 and am now ready for the next season of life and ministry.
We have a deep passion for helping church planters around the world. We understand how challenging it can be and we want to offer our support to you. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. We are here for you.
