our story

Judy and I have been married for 38 years. We have spent the last 20 years working together daily, rarely separated. We not only love each other but also like each other a lot! We have 2 beautiful daughters who love Jesus and are living missional lives. We've been blessed with 2 great sons-in-law and, of course, our 3 wonderfully perfect grandchildren.

We first met in 1985 at a youth rally in Phoenix, Arizona. I was a youth pastor at a mega-church co-hosting the event, and Judy was driving a church bus filled with young people from her congregation. I was immediately smitten with Judy, and although she needed a little extra time, we were married a year later.

From 1985 to 1993, we worked as senior high youth pastors at a mega-church in Phoenix, then as youth and worship leaders in Omaha, Nebraska, and later as senior pastors in Cape Girardeau and Kansas City, Missouri. We were part of the Foursquare Denomination during our time in the Midwest. I had significant responsibilities, including overseeing 10 churches, managing youth ministry in Missouri, and directing three summer children's camps while pastoring a church with a daycare. This demanding schedule eventually took its toll, leading to burnout and health issues. At the suggestion of a family physician, we took a break from full-time vocational ministry and returned to Phoenix.

After returning to Phoenix, I learned how to build pc’s and taught myself Novell computer networking.
I established "Sarbrit Systems," a business specializing in servicing small business network systems.
Additionally, we assisted a new church plant with worship leading and youth ministry.

In 1999, I was asked to join Living Streams Church as a full-time Administrative Pastor. Five years later, with a core group of 45 people, we planted Streams Church. The church thrived over the next 18 years and eventually purchased and renovated a 5-acre church property, building a daycare center.

I’ve faced several health challenges. I have experienced on-and-off sessions of cluster headaches since 1998. In 2014, I spent 15 days in a Japanese hospital, nearly dying from E. coli poisoning. In 2022, I transitioned our church so that I could focus on life-altering surgery. In 2023, I had 8 vertebrae, ranging from the top of my neck to my upper back, fused together to protect my spinal cord.

Amidst the challenges of ministry and life, we have found ourselves drawing closer to each other and the Lord. It's truly remarkable how God chooses to work through us. As spiritual "father and mother," we believe that we are entering the prime of our lives.

Our calling is to care for those who care for others. Empowering leaders to discover their gifts and passions while prioritizing mental, marital, and family health.
